Pulling Weeds

Just in case you needed a visual reminder today of why it’s a good idea to pluck up ‘weeds’ in your life when they’re small, rather than putting them off.

I helped a friend with some weeding yesterday, and the one on the right gave me a run for my money! Look how much thicker the root on that thing is compared to the one on the left.

It was much deeper, too, and I not only had to pull REALLY hard to get it out of the ground, but I also had to dig up some of the ground around it to even get down to it.

And you know what? I’m a little sore today. There were quite a few weeds with fat roots. But it was worth it to get them taken care of.

The longer I wait, the harder it’s gonna be. Lord help me weed my garden!!

James 1:13-16
(13) Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
(14) But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
(15) Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
(16) Do not err, my beloved brethren.

Colossians 3:1-11
(1) If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
(2) Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
(3) For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
(4) When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
(5) Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
(6) For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
(7) In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
[8] But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
(9) Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
(10) And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
(11) Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

  1. As a farm and garden girl, your message resonates with me. The longer we delay in weeding, whether it be in our yard or garden, the harder the struggle rid ourselves of them and reclaim our “garden.” It’s the same with those weeds in our lives. Thank youf for sharing.
