MMmmmm…Tasty?

Sometimes you just have to wonder… this really came up in a grocery store app when I searched for wet cat food.

I don’t know if this is someone’s idea of a joke, if they really hate shepherd’s pie and this was a slam against it, or they are actually recommending you make it with wet cat food. I didn’t really have the time, nor the inclination to find out.

I think if you’re trying to get out of bringing food to future family gatherings, or your desire is to be put on the list of people who only brings drinks or rolls to church potlucks, this recipe could be your ticket.

At first glance, that shepherd’s pie looks really good. They even did the fancy piping of the mashed potatoes on top. It looks full of meat and vegetables, and everything is the right color. It just has that “homemade” look.

Though I did notice that whoever took a serving only ate the potatoes and didn’t dig into the “meat” part, whatever it may be. Perhaps they had insider information.

Sometimes we have the best intentions when it comes to feeding our family or ourselves, and we look for ideas on the internet about what to make. I have found many new and wonderful recipes by looking online.

This ain’t one of them.

Our best intentions, however, can sometimes end up with less than stellar, or even harmful results. I’m sure this posting was a mistake, and this store would never actually recommend using cat food in their recipe. But there are people out there who post harmful things, hoping others will actually do it.

You know, this can happen when we look up things about the Bible, too. If we throw a question about God’s Word into Google, all kinds of results come back. AI isn’t as smart as you think it is.

Some of the results are great and helpful, and inspire a new topic of study. Others, however, end up like this- saying their result relates to your search, but it really has nothing to do with the topic at hand, or even God’s Word at all.

At first glance, it may look and sound good. Perhaps they use a lot of “Christianese” and seem spiritual. Maybe the information is entertaining, or fits the vibe you’re looking for. But the “meat” they offer may be something that was never meant for you to ingest, even though it may look like food in the moment.

Even if you just scrape a little of the top to take with you, I promise the flavor of the cat food is stuck to the bottom. That flavor can seep around your plate and start to taint the good things you have on there.

And even though it might be heavy food you will find yourself hungry. Maybe even starving. Those “potatoes” and “meat” are going to be super disappointing when you get real “Shepherd’s Pie”.

(See what I did there?)

So this is just a friendly reminder today to be careful about where you get your information, especially as it relates to God and His Word.

You just may end up making shepherd’s pie with cat food, and no one wants that.

1 Corinthians 2:12-13
(12) Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
(13) Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

Psalm 119:127-130
(127) Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold.
(128) Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way.
(129) PE. Thy testimonies are wonderful: therefore doth my soul keep them.
(130) The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

1 Peter 1:24-25
(24) For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
(25) But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
